CITY (NewsDakota.com) – Jessica Benson scored 17 points as St. Cloud State pulled away in the second half for a 70-45 victory over the VCSU women’s basketball team Wednesday night.

The game was an exhibition game for VCSU (2-1) and does not count against their overall record. Brittany Lehner led the Vikings with 10 points. VCSU struggled with turnovers, committing 28 turnovers in the game that led to 21 St. Cloud points.

It was the season opener for St. Cloud, and NCAA Division II team from the NSIC.

The Vikings are back in NAIA play Saturday when they host Dickinson State. It is the first men’s and women’s home doubleheader for the Vikings. Women play at 2 p.m. and the men tip at 4 p.m. Pregame coverage begins at 1:40 p.m. Saturday on Dakota Country Radio: KOVC, KDDR, and KDAK.
