(NewsDakota.com)- The Jamestown Blue Jay girls hockey team opened up their 2012-13 season with a bang last night at Wilson Arena. The Jays welcomed in Fargo North and the Spartans had been to eight of the last 10 state title games. Jamestown scored twice in the third period to knock off the Spartans 2-0.

Amber Schaack, who spent most of the night playing on defense due to depth issues, score with just over 11 minutes left to give Jamestown the lead. Larissa Wiest added another goal late in the third to give the Jays some breathing room.

Carissa Finck stopped at 22 shots that were fired at her. Jamestown scored their two goals on 34 shots.

Jamestown is coming off a school record 13 wins last season picked up their first win of 2012-13, its also the programs first win over a Fargo school.

The Jays are on the road Friday at Mandan.
