CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) U-S Army Corps of Engineer Park Manager Scott Tichy tells newsdakota.com that a couple of ice fishing houses went through thin ice on Lake Ashtabula.

Tichy said due to seasonal warm temperatures a lot of open water is visible on the lake and the ice is only 2 to 4 inches thick in many areas of the lake which makes for extremely unsafe ice conditions.

Last winter a man died after he went through thin ice while fishing on a reservoir north of Jamestown.
