Surrounded by her family, Susan Heinze Lugo entered into Heaven on December 30, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was carried to Heaven while being serenaded by the angels where she met her Heavenly Father, rejoicing with those that have gone before her. Susan Marie Heinze was born December 18, 1957 at Valley City, ND. The daughter of Edwin and Dorothy (Beckstrom) Heinze, she grew up on the family farm east of Dazey and attended school at Luverne where she graduated with the Class of 1976. Suzi, as she was known as by her family & friends, developed long lasting friendships and made many happy memories during those years. In June of 1976, Suzi was united in marriage to Thomas Ertelt. With this union, came two children Stacey and Jason. Soon after, Suzi and Tom were blessed with two more children, Laura and Dustin. They lived in Luverne until moving to West Fargo in 1986. There Suzi began her own cleaning business that flourished. She had many cherished customers that she loved and considered part of her extended family. Suzi had a flair for decorating and was always creating something new and cheerful. She will be remembered for her love of flowers, conversations over a cup of coffee and for her willingness to always help others. Her greatest love was her family and sharing in the events of her children and her grandchildren. All who knew Suzi will definitely miss her daily phone calls and texts, the uplifting sound of her voice and her laughter. Her strength and courage during her illness was immeasurable. Through her treatment she remained strong and asked all to pray and “believe”.

Suzi was preceded in death by a brother Bobby, her father Edwin, her grandparents Julius Heinze, Marie Kunze Bulens, Alfred and Teckla Beckstrom. She is survived by her mother Dorothy Heinze of Dazey, a sister Kathy (John) Russell, Ft.Collins, CO; John (Dorene) of Cooperstown, ND; Patrick (Dinah)of Dazey, James (Barb)of Dazey and William (Tracy) of Wimbelton and her children Jason (Kristina) Ertelt of Harwood, Dustin (Amber) Ertelt of Fargo, Laura Ertelt of Fargo and 9 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The family wishes to thank all of the medical professionals that cared for Suzi during her illness and a special thank you to the staff of Elim Care Center who took such wonderful care of her during her last days.
