CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Hi-Liner wrestling team has its final home dual of the season on Tuesday night.

Valley City (2-4 EDC) hosts Grand Forks Red River (4-1 EDC) in a varsity dual at about 7 p.m. at the Hi-Liner Activity Center. The dual had been postponed from a previous date earlier this month due to winter weather.

Valley City is coming of a trip to the Lisbon Storhaug Invitational last weekend. Valley City took 13th as a team and had three wrestlers place in the Top 4.

At 152 pounds, Shane Undem posted a 3-1 record and took second place. He beat Kyle Schultz of Central Cass, who Valley City coach Aaron Larson says is the top-ranked 152-pound wrestler in Class B.

At 182 pounds, Jordan Magnuson went 3-2 at the tournament and took fourth place.

At 285 pounds, Steven Horner went 2-1 to finish in second place. He beat Tyler Ringdahl of Wahpeton 6-0 in the semifinals before losing in the championship to Carrington’s Cordell Schroeder, the top ranked 285-pound wrestler in Class B.

Horner’s performance at the tournament helped earn him the Farmers Union Insurance Wrestler of the Week in Valley City. He improved his season record to 18-6 and is the state’s No. 5 ranked 285 pound wrestler in Class A.
