S.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City State basketball teams earned a road sweep Thursday night over Dakota State.

The Viking women built a 15-point second half lead and hung on down the stretch in a 57-54 win, getting two free throws from Courtney Titus with about 15 seconds remaining to all but seal the victory.


Katelyn Ralston led the Viking women with 17 points.

On the men’s side, the Vikings scored 10 straight points to break a 48-48 tie late in the game en route to a 63-54 victory. Sekani Milligen led the Vikings with 17 points, including two three-point plays to start and finish that decisive 10-0 run. Head coach Jeff Kaminsky said it was one of the best games the Vikings have played all season.

The Viking men improve to 16-5 overall and the women move to 18-4.

Up next: The Viking men host Oglala at 4 p.m. Saturday. Then the Vikings host Jamestown College in a home doubleheader on Wednesday night at 5:30 and 7:30.
