N.D. (AP) – North Dakota has two new state champion trees.

State Forester Larry Kotchman says a weeping white birch owned by Anton Kautzman of Mandan has replaced the former champion owned by the Dybwad family of McHenry.

A white pine owned by Levi Nenow of Jamestown has replaced a tree owned by Carlee O’Dell of Fargo.

The Champion Tree Program in North Dakota is sponsored by the state Forest Service and the Dakotas Society of American Foresters. The largest and second-largest trees of each native and nonnative species in the state can be found in The North Dakota Register of Champion Trees or online at http://www.ndsu.edu/ndfs
