CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Hi-Liner boys and girls basketball teams take on Grand Forks Red River tonight in home-and-away match-ups.

Valley City’s boys host Red River at the Hi-Liner Activity Center, while the girls are on the road in Grand Forks.

The girls varsity game will be broadcast on KOVC 1490 and NewsDakota.com, with pregame starting at about 7:15 p.m.

Both the boys and girls games are worth two points in the EDC standings, and that could be huge for the girls. Valley City’s girls are currently fourth in the EDC standings at 5-3, while Red River is 5-5. Spots 4 through 9 in the EDC standings right now are separated by just one game in the win column.

The Hi-Liner girls are coming off wins over Grand Forks Central and Fargo Davies last weekend. They are now 10-3 overall.

On the boys side, Valley City is still in search of that first EDC victory after losses to Central and Davies on Friday and Saturday. The Hi-Liners will have their work cut our for them tonight against the No. 1-ranked team in the state.

Red River suffered its first loss of the season last Friday against Davies, but is still 10-1 overall and 8-1 in EDC play. The Hi-Liners are 4-8 overall and 0-7 in the EDC.
