(NewsDakota.com) Two men from Oakes have been recognized for their efforts in    healthcare in the area.

Steve Ketterling and Patrick O’Brien lead a recent effort to get a dialysis center in Oakes, and for their efforts were the recipients of this year’s Distinguished Service Awards presented by the Oakes Chamber of Commerce and Oakes Enhancement on Thursday evening.

Ketterling, General Manager of Farmland Coop, is an active member of St. John’s Lutheran church serving on committees, on boards and in offices. He is a past board member of the Southeast Area Career and Tech Center and served on the Oakes school board for 12 years and served part of those years as the president. He is a Lions member, and is actively involved in community events such as Evening in the Park, volunteers to assist with benefits and feeds along with other community events. 

Patrick has served as his church and District on most of the Divisions, numerous years on the District Board of Directors, as District President, and the Synodical Council of Presidents. In 2012 he, along with the Lutheran Youth Fellowship and counselors did volunteer work for the Minot Flood victims. He currently is on the Lutheran Social Services Board of Directors and their Housing Task Force. He volunteers weekly at the Good Samaritan Society Oakes. 

The Dialysis Center in Oakes will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year.
