CITY – Valley City State University (VCSU) Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Jeff Kaminsky, has announced that Chase Carpenter, of Valley City High School has signed a Letter of Intent to attend VCSU and join the Viking basketball program for the 2013-2014 season. Chase recently wrapped up a very successful career at Valley City High School. As a senior, Chase averaged 22.7 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 52% from the field and 36% from the 3 point line. He was named to the All-Eastern Dakota Conference team as both a junior and senior. Chase was also a two-time selection to the Barnes County Tournament’s All-Tournament Team.

Scott Hurlimann, Head Coach at Valley City High School comments, “Chase was one of the best players in the EDC the past 3 seasons and it will be fun to watch him continue to grow as a player at VCSU.”

Coach Kaminsky adds, “After having watched Chase throughout his high school career here in Valley City, we are excited to have him join our program. The versatility he has as a scorer and his ability to rebound will make Chase a valuable asset to our team. His character and work ethic will make him an immediate fit in our program, both on the court and off.”
