(NewsDakota.com)- The five Miss Basketball candidates were announced last night and Jamestown’s Kyra Dewald was among them. The senior guard scored 1,059 career points and lead her team to a 5th place finish at the state tournament last weekend.

Dewald averaged over 22 points per game while filling up the stat line with four rebounds, three assists and three steals a game. The Jays won 19 games for the first time since 2001.

She will continue her basketball career at Jamestown College.

Other finalists include North’s Kira Larson, Century’s Hannah Larson, Hillsboro-Central Valley’s Taylor Henningsgard and Grant County’s Ashley Bentz. The award will be presented Saturday night at the conclusion of the Class B state tournament.

The award is voted on by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
