CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City State men’s basketball team has added two more recruits for the 2013-14 season.

Head coach Jeff Kaminsky says the Vikings have signed Adam Krueger of Rosholt High School (SD) and Tyler Thielges of LaMoure High School (ND) to Letters of Intent to attend VCSU and join the Viking basketball program for the 2013-2014 season.

Adam Krueger, a 6-foot-4 guard, recently finished a very successful basketball career at Rosholt High School. As a senior, Adam averaged 12 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game as a captain for the Raiders. Adam was a five-year letter winner and a two-time First-Team All-Conference player in the Eastern Coteau Conference (ECC). Adam was also a member of the North Dakota All-Star team that won the Flyin’ Hawaiian Basketball Classic in the summer of 2011 and was selected to play in the 2013 Pheasant Country All-Star Game.

Kevin Jackson, Head Coach at Rosholt High School comments, “Adam is a great athlete who loves basketball. He was the captain and leader on his team. Adam was an all-around player for me. He is complete; as he can hit the jumper, get to the rim, take the three, and create for his teammates. He has great vision and is an excellent passer.”

Coach Kaminsky adds, “We are excited to have Adam join our program. The success he had in high school as both a player and student make him a valuable addition to Viking Basketball. The versatility he has at the guard position will allow him to fit into our program very well. We look forward to Adam being a Viking beginning this fall.”

Tyler Thielges, a 6-foot guard, is a 2012 graduate of LaMoure High School and currently attends South Dakota State University in Brookings, where he was a redshirt quarterback for the Jackrabbits. Tyler had a very successful athletic career at LaMoure High School. In basketball, he was Team MVP both his junior and senior seasons, was twice named to the Stutsman County All-Tournament Team, and was a two-time All-District 5 performer. Tyler’s senior season with the Loboes was especially successful, as he averaged 14.5 points, 4.1 assists, and 4 rebounds per game. His efforts earned him Senior Athlete of the Year award for Region 3 and an invitation to play in the Lions All-Star Game.

Darren Thielges, Tyler’s Head Coach at LaMoure High School comments, “Tyler has been an integral leader in developing the face of Loboe Basketball. He possesses qualities of leadership, determination, and sacrifice that are invaluable to success on and off the court. I am confident that those qualities will help contribute to the success of Viking Basketball. It will be exciting to watch the growth of him and the team.”

Coach Kaminsky says of Tyler, “Having Tyler join Viking Basketball will add multiple elements to our program. His strength, vision, and understanding of the game will be welcomed additions to our backcourt. Tyler is also a first-class person and student. We are excited to sign Tyler and look forward to him being a Viking in the Fall. ”
