CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The road to the International Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio starts Saturday for contestants down Central Avenue in Valley City. Drivers from age 7 to 18 will compete in two divisions Stock and Super Stock. Opening ceremonies start Saturday at 9:30am. If there is a rain out Saturday the race will be held Sunday.

You can also support the Soap Box Derby Club by “buying” a duck for the “Ducking Down the Sheyenne” raffle. On June 15th during Rally in the valley, the ducks will be dumped off the foot bridge at City Park . The top 10 ducks will receive chamber bucks. 1st place is $500 in chamber bucks. Duck raffle tickets are available at Central Ave Pharmacy and from all Soap Box Derby Club members.
