(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School football team got back on the right track with an impressive 34-6 victory in Class A Region I play at Northern Cass High School on Friday night.

The Tornadoes started out a bit flat, as Bryce Meehl threw an interception that was returned to the Oakes 2 yard line, setting up a rushing touchdown by Casey Springer.

That’s all the points the Jaguars would be able to muster against the Tornadoes. Meehl threw three touchdown passes in the victory, one each to Ethan Zetocha (5 yards), Cole Ehrlin (10 yards) and Kaleb Sell (35 yards) . Zetocha also had three interceptions off of Jaguar quarterback Taylor Kyllo, and returned one of them for a 43 yard touchdown.

Oakes now stands at 3-1 overall and 2-1 in Region 1. Next up is homecoming with a matchup against Hillsboro-Central Valley. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts at 6:30 Friday night, with kickoff at 7 p.m. from Cummings Field.
