N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Cass County Sheriff’s Department, and Fargo Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Interstate 94 on the westbound off-ramp of exit 350 (25th St. exit) south Fargo on October 18. 

Highway Patrol Captain Brian Niewind says 167 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, from 11:00 pm through 2:00 am on October 18th. 

21 drivers were screened for impairment at the checkpoint.  3 individuals were arrested for Driving Under the Influence, 4 individuals were arrested for Minor in Possession and/or Consumption and 1 individual was arrested for providing False Information to Law Enforcement. 

In 2012, 87 people died in alcohol-related crashes. This year to date, 47 people have died in alcohol-related crashes in the state. In the NDHP’s Southeast Region, 42 percent of crash victims were killed in alcohol-related crashes.
