(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School football team locked up a home playoff game to start postseason play after rolling over the Carrington Cardinals 39-0 on Saturday afternoon to end the regular season for both teams.

Oakes’ defense surrendered 166 yards of offense but did not allow a Cardinal scoring play. The Tornado offense netted almost 400 yards; 205 through the air and another 189 on the ground. 

Bryce Meehl connected on two touchdown passes to Ethan Zetocha, Blake Hollingsworth added another two scores from 5 and 25 yards out, and Meehl ran in a score as did Eric Loepp. 

As the #2 seed out of Region I, Oakes (6-2 5-2 Class A Region 1) will welcome the Aggies of Park River-Fordville-Lakin, the #3 seed from Region 2; a matchup of a first round game from two years ago which saw the Tornadoes victorious. Kickoff from Cummings Field on Saturday is set for 2:30 with coverage on KDDR-AM 1220 and NewsDakota.com starting at 2 p.m.

Carrington (6-2 5-2 Region I) will enter the post-season as the #3 seed from Region I, and will play North Prairie up in Rolla next Saturday; the #2 seed in Region II. Coverage will be heard on KDAK 1600 and NewsDakota.com starting at 1:00, with kickoff at 1:30 p.m.
