CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) For the first time in five years there will be a new champion crowned at the Barnes County Tournament. In the first semi-final of the night, #1 Milnor became the first team in nearly half a decade to defeat Maple Valley in Barnes County play. The Bison ended the five year run of the Raiders 57-48.

In the second semifinal of the night, three players for LaMoure/Litchville-Marion made their way on the score sheet with double digits. Drew Thielges had 13 points, Brady Thielges had 10 points and Anthony Olson led the Lobos with 18 in the contest. The Trio would score all but eight of the Lobos points.

Griggs County Central would turn to Riley Nelson to bring them back in the game, while his 18 points kept  the Cougars in reach, they could not pull back into the match. When the final whistle blew the scoreboard would favor the Lobos in a 51-45 final.

In the Consolation games, Sargent Central defeated Barnes County North 58-43. Devin Arp earned a game high 21 points for the Cadets, while TJ Steckler had 19 for the Bison.

Next up for the Cadets will be Enderlin who made their way to the Consolation final with a 82-35 win over Finley-Sharon/Hope-page. Enderlin’s Daniel Lindgren and Grahm Hurlburt combined for 45 points. The Spartans had no players finish in double digits. Lucas Montag and Clay Montag each had six points apiece.

The final day of play begins on Saturday, December 14th when Finley-Shron/Hope-Page meets up with Barnes County North at noon. The Championship game between Milnor and LaMoure – Litchville-Marion is scheduled for a 4:30pm start. All tournament games will be aired on KQDJ FM.
