N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) Cardiopulmonary Rehab Department has added phase III cardiopulmonary rehabilitation to its cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. Phase III is an extension of the phase II cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.

Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation is a complete long-term service involving a medical assessment, prescribed exercise, cardiac risk factor modification with education, breathing retraining, pulmonary education, counseling and behavior interventions. The phase III program continues the behavior modification strategies learned while attending phase II rehabilitation, enhances coronary heart disease or pulmonary disease management skills and establishes a commitment to preventing a secondary disease.

The phase III program is open to any individual who has completed the phase II cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program who could benefit from extended supervision and a slower transition into a maintenance program. It is also open to any cardiopulmonary rehab referrals not eligible for phase II cardiac or pulmonary rehab due to a non-qualifying diagnosis or inadequate insurance coverage.
