N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High basketball teams made the trek north to play a rescheduled game against the Turtle Mountain Braves in Belcourt on Tuesday night. The girls handed the Bravettes their first home loss of the season as they had been 5-0 prior with a 50-32 victory. The boys saw a good first-half effort wasted as the Braves outscored them 46-27 in the second to win 84-65.

Once again, a team had a hard time slowing down Paige Peterson. The Jamestown senior poured in 22 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds. The Jays used a 16-2 run in the second half to pull away from the Bravettes. Meghan Orr, who made her first varsity start, knocked down a triple to start the run and Jamestown never looked back.

McKayla Orr finished with only three points, but was her usual disrupting self all over the floor wrecking havoc on the Bravettes offense who were held to a season-low 32 points. It was just the second road win for Jamestown and the first home loss for Turtle Mountain. The two teams will play again Saturday at Jerry Meyer Arena.

The boys game was tied 38-all at half time and the Jays even held a six-point second-half lead before the Braves started to mountain their run. Five Braves ended the night in double-figures lead by 6’6″ junior Jonathan Parisien’s 20.

Jamestown turned the ball over 24 times in the loss.
