(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School basketball teams were swept by the Enderlin Eagles on Tuesday night.

In the girls contest, the Tornadoes fell 54-36 to the Lady Eagles. Oakes started the game with a 7-0 run, and had a 11-9 lead after the opening eight minutes. That lead did not hold on long in the second quarter, as Enderlin (11-3) outscored Oakes 23-9 to end the first half.

The Lady Eagles had 25 points from senior Megan Johnson, while the Lady Tornadoes (3-13) had 10 points from Jordyn Seyer; eight of which came from free throws.

The boys contest was somewhat similar, with Oakes establishing an early 14-6 lead, and only trailing Enderlin by two at the half. The size and speed of the Eagles became too much for the Tornadoes in the second half, and Enderlin sailed to a 63-43 victory. Enderlin (11-6) had 23 points from Daniel Lingren, while Oakes (8-10) was lead in scoring by Bryce Meehl with 22 points.

The girls of Oakes will host the Sargent Central Cadets on Thursday night in a Class B District 1 contest. Coverage can be heard on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starting at 7:15 p.m.
