N.D (NewsDakota.com) Despite having not played for nearly two weeks, the Hi-Liners Softball team didn’t seem rusty at all as they opened Eastern Dakota Conference play with a 8-4 win over Fargo North, then took the non-conference game 10-2 in five innings.

The victories advance the Hi-Liners to 4-0 on the year with a conference record of 1-0. Fargo North drops to 0-1 in EDC and holds a season mark of 0-6 this season.

The Hi-Liners got scoring going early in the opening contest as both Danica and Dierra Diegel rounded the base paths in the first inning. Sadie Klingenberg would help drive in three more runs in the game as the Hi-Liners offense took care of business.

On the Mound, Danica Diegel earned her second win of the year pitching a complete game and allowing just four runs on eight hits.

Fargo North was led at the plate by Samantha Trana who finished the 3-4  at the plate with 2 RBI’s and a run.

In the non-conference game, Dierra Diegel led the Hi-Liners at the dish driving in two runs and touching home twice herself.  On the Mound, Jessica Denholm took care of the Spartans striking out seven batters and allowing just four hits in the five inning game.

The Hi-Liners return to Fargo this weekend for the West Fargo Tournament. They will open play Friday, April 11th against Minot Bishop Ryan at 4pm. On Saturday morning they will play Bismarck Century before finishing the weekend against Minot High at 1:30pm.
