Sue Taxis, 76, of Jamestown, ND, died Friday, April 11, 2014 at her home under hospice care.

    Mary Sue Self was born on July 19, 1937, in Shelby, North Carolina, the daughter of John William and Ada (Fitch) Self.  She grew up and attended Patterson Springs grade school and No. 3 high school in North Carolina.  Sue was baptized and was a member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church.  She moved to Linton, ND in 1956 and married DeLonce “Tooter” Taxis on November 2, 1956.  They moved to Jamestown in 1959 where she was a homemaker.  Later, she worked for the Jamestown Sun in the sports department.  Sue went to work for Easter Seals Society as a personal care attendant from 1976 until 1996.  She took her job very personal and enjoyed working with all families.  Sue also enjoyed cooking and having family get-togethers during the year, especially holidays.  Sue was very close to her husband’s family and felt blessed to always be a part of their lives.  Her family especially appreciates the care of Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice and Pastor Wayne Bangs.

    Sue is survived by five sons, Keith (Leah) Taxis, Edgeley, ND, Terry Taxis, Jamestown, Larry Taxis, Fargo, ND, Jerry (Joan) Taxis, Jamestown, and Timothy Taxis, Jamestown; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; brother, Mitchell (Glenda) Self, Shelby, NC; and two sisters, Frankie Ellis, Shelby, NC and Violet Wright, Shelby, NC; special friend, Shelly Grainger.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, William, Jr.; and sister, Sarah Alexander.

    Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Wayne Bangs officiating.

    Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00p.m., Monday, April 14, 2104 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.

    Prayer Service: 7:00p.m., Monday, April 14, 2104 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.

    Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
