N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was called to the Highland Homes Cemetery at about 10:30 PM for a reported prairie fire.

Rural Fire Chief Rick Woehl described the scene when fire crews showed arrived.

The Rural Fire Department sent out five trucks and 10 crew members to handle the fire. Strong winds and soft conditions made accessibility very limited for the firefighters. Crews used a six wheeler with a 100 gallon tank to put out a majority of the fire. An estimate of acreage damaged by the fire was unavailable at the time.

Crews were out for about an one and a half hours.
