CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City residents will see an increase in their water rates starting this May.

City Administrator David Schelkoph says the new water treatment plant uses more electricity treating Devils Lake water coming down the Sheyenne River in the summer and fall.

Schelkoph says most Valley City residents will see a $7 per month increase on their monthly water bill after May 5.

The Valley City Commission approved of a resolution to increase water rates during their regular meeting on April 15.
