Leona Elsa Rempfer, age 95, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away December 27, 2013, at the Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs.

    Leona was born January 3, 1918, in Monango, ND, to Gothieb and Magdalene (Frigen) Dockter.

    Leona received a Lifetime Teaching Certificate from North Dakota. She taught for three years in a one room eighth grade schoolhouse.  On June 1, 1941, she married William Christian Rempfer in Monango. Leona and Bill moved to California and she worked in a sandwich shop while Bill worked at the Naval yard in Oakland, CA, they then moved to Monango, ND, and resided there until 1951, when they moved to Edgeley, ND. Leona moved to Hot Springs in 2007.

    Leona was hard working, friendly and shared Jesus’ love with everyone, she was a super homemaker most of her life, she liked to cook, sew clothes, garden and make art objects such as pictures. She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, she lead Bible study devotions, shared food and coffee, and participated and cooperated in ladies projects.

    Leona is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Bill) Elliott of Hot Springs; two brothers, Ervin Dockter of Devils Lake, ND, and Melvin Dockter of CA.

    Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND, with Pastor Alan Eppen officiating.

    Interment: Mt. Hope Cemetery in Edgeley, ND.
