LOUIS, MI (NewsDakota.com) – Area corn growers have been honored as state winners in the 2013 National Corn Yield Contest.

Frauenberg Farms #1 of LaMoure placed first in the No-Till/Strip-Till Non-Irrigated Class, yielding 260.7 bushels per acre. Donna Frauenberg, also of LaMoure, placed first in the state in Irrigated Class with a yield of 263.1 bushels per acre. These local growers were one of 434 state winners nationwide. There was a participation record of 8,983 entries from 47 states this year.

“This fall, U.S. corn farmers reaped the bounty of their labors, harvesting a record crop that will provide food, fuel and fiber for our nation and our trading partners around the world,” said NCGA President Martin Barbre, a corn grower from Carmi, Illinois.
