(NewsDakota.com)- The Jamestown High golf team opened their 2014 season Monday in Minot and finished just shy of winning their first meet of the season. Austin Rene lead the field with a 73 (+1) and the team finished one stroke back of Minot.

The Magi carded a 314 and the Jays finished just one shot back with a 315. The meet was held at Minot’s home course of Souris Valley Golf Course.

Brandon Stahlhut finished in 5th with a 5-over 77. Nick Stockert fired an 81, while Jakobi Lux finished with an 84. Brady Hoggarth (95) and Ty Spitzer (97) were also part of the six scoring golfers.

The East-West Classic will be held at the Jamestown Country Club this Friday and Saturday.
