CITY N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City Barnes County rural firefighters were busy knocking down two grass fires yesterday. Fire Chief Gary Retterath says the first one was 10 miles north of I-94 along the Peak road.

Retterath says another grass fire broke out near Martin’s Landing and threatened a farmstead.

No injuries were reported and no structures burned in yesterday’s grass fires north of Valley City. A strong southeast wind, dry conditions and warmer temperatures helped fuel these two grass fires.
