N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council held their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Monday, May 5th at the Jamestown City Hall.

On the agenda were several items including the approval to add special assessments on 2013 Sidewalk, Curb & Gutter District #13-11 and platting and re-platting of different additions and subdivisions.

Another discussed topic on the regular agenda was to consider adding 10th Street Northeast between 5th Avenue Northeast and 12th Avenue Northeast to the Snow Emergency Routes. Councilmember Dan Buchannan explained that the area was residential, accessed the school area and connected two unilateral streets in the city. The motion failed on a 4 to 1 vote.

The CEO of Ave Maria Village Tim Burchill came before the board and explained his frustrations in the area on snow removal.

Councilmember Buchannan explained that snow emergency routes were just routes that were priority for cleaning.

A brief recess was held before the Council went to other business, which included renewal and development plans between the City of Jamestown and Menards, Inc. The City’s Bond Counsel, John Schockley came before the board and outlined several parts of the contract agreement between the City and Menards before discussion began.

The Council was addressed by several community members questioning the agreement and process. Officials reminded the public that the agreement and contracts were all public record. Several items were approved including Developer Agreements, Renewal and Development Plans, and Developer Incentive Agreements.

The Jamestown City Council remained split on Menard’s. Councilmember Dan Buchannan voted in opposition to all resolutions between the City and Menards. Councilmember Charlie Kourajian voted in opposition with Buchannan on both the Developer Agreement and Developer’s Incentive Agreement.
