N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The National Weather Service in Bismarck has announced that Skywarn spotter training will commence tonight in both Steele and Ellendale.

These training sessions will allow you to obtain the knowledge to become a spotter with a local agency. While not necessarily a “Storm Chaser”, spotters stay close to home and gather information to distribute to a local organization, such as the National Weather Service. Spotters report on wind speed, hail size, rainfall and cloud formations. Taking the class doesn’t require an individual to become a weather spotter.

Training will begin in Steele at 7 P.M. in the Kidder County Ambulance Building. Training in Ellendale will be at 7:30 P.M. at the Fireside Steakhouse. All sessions are free and no registration is required.
