N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Department of Transportation has announced the beginning of the annual Click It Or Ticket Campaign in North Dakota.

According to the NDDOT, failure to use seat belts while in motor vehicle crashes contributes to the deaths of 40 to 50 people per year in North Dakota. A “Crash Mob” was used to demonstrate to students how a seat belt can save a life. There will be added patrols throughout the state beginning May 19th and continuing through June 1st.

There were 148 traffic fatalities in North Dakota in 2013. The fatalities included 136 motor vehicle occupants. Among those deaths, 73 persons were not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
