N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James River Valley Library Board met for their monthly board meeting last night and have decided to purchase two properties adjacent to the Alfred Dickey Library.

These new sites will allow for construction of a new 16,000 square foot, 2 level addition to the library. The library will also be renovated while maintaining the 1919 design. The estimated cost of the new facility will be about $9 million. If approval of the initiative for a 1/4% sales tax is approved, it will cost the average Stutsman County family $33.75 a year according to the state tax office.

The two properties being purchased include the property adjacent to the Alfred Dickey Library owned by Satrom Rentals, and the Maple Mall owned by Helen Ashwell. Purchase price for the Satrom property is $375,000 and the Maple Mall property price is $399,000.
