FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) According to the National Weather Service office in Grand Forks showers and thunderstorms are expected to hit eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota now through Saturday.

Some storms will contain torrential rain with amounts up to 2 inches in a short period of time. This may lead to flooding issues. These storms could contain hail one inch in diameter along with a strong gusty wind.

Up to 2 inches of heavy rain in a short period of time is in the forecast for the Valley City, Lisbon and other areas of the Sheyenne River Valley.

And the Bismarck National Weather Service office says 3 to 4 inches of heavy rain in a short period of time is possible for Jamestown and other cities along the James River Valley.
