N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council met in brief fashion for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on June 2nd.

A public hearing was held to discuss the issuance of bonds by the city of Medina on behalf of the University of Jamestown. The bonds would be issued under the Municipal Industrial Development Act that would not exceed $8.5 million. The bonds would go on to help fund the renovation of student housing currently taking place this summer.

Jim Stewart, an attorney from Fargo, stated that the University was going through the city of Medina because of Jamestown’s bank qualified limit.

The Council passed the issue unanimously.

In other business, the council was asked to consider changing Order Number 1 to Nill Construction Inc. on the Jamestown City Hall Cooling Replacement. The contract price would be increased to $1,985.46. City Engineer Reed Schwartzkopf stated it was a simple mistake.

The council approved of the change.

Near the end of the meeting, discussion was held for a possible water extension serve to Aggregate Industries. City Engineer Schwartkopf stated that the business was having filtration issues with water currently coming from the well. The plant manager for Aggregate stated that the plant came very close to running out of water.

The City moved to hold a special City Council meeting to discuss and approve the water extension to Aggregate Industries, with the cost on a share between the city and Aggregate.
