N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – At approximately 7:09 PM on Sunday, June 1st, emergency sirens signaled that a tornado had touched down in the area.

Jamestown Law Enforcement Dispatch reported that a tornado unexpectedly touched down roughly 12 miles Northwest of Jamestown. According to Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist, a Stutsman County Deputy verified that the tornado was on the ground traveling in the direction of the city. At the time, there were no active warnings issued by the National Weather Service. The tornado occurred in an open field with no specific damage reported.

Throughout the night, tornado warnings were issued for Buchanan, Montpelier and a portion of Northern LaMoure County. No additional tornadoes were reported.
