N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – RDG Planning and Design and KLJ Inc. have been working with residents and city officials of Jamestown to improve transportation and growth.

During a special meeting on June 2nd, members of RDG Planning and Design provided information to the City Council on the projected growth coming to Jamestown with the improvements that were suggested. According to their report, population is expected to improve from 15,000 in 2014 to 22,000 in 2040. This growth will require 2,500 new housing units within the next 25 years.

Jamestown Mayor Katie Andersen stated that a major concern with city residents was transportation and connectivity throughout the city. Data is being put into the travel demand model, which is the engineering portion of the plan.

Four areas are being focused on with the transportation plan. Creating a second grade separated railroad crossing, 17th Street off-exit on I-94, 1st Avenue downtown Jamestown, and creating proactive pedestrian and biking traffic patterns.
