N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Fire Department has scheduled the previously postponed Hazmat Training for today.

Jamestown Fire Department Chief Jim Reuther stated that the training exercise will be a hazardous materials released and the exercise will be designed to test the hazardous materials teams core capabilities. The Fire Department will team up with the Fargo Fire Department for the Regional Training Exercise.

“The purpose of this training is to test a statewide plan and system for responding to hazardous materials incidents. This allows teams to assist local authorities in protecting the public, property and the environment from the immediate effects of hazardous materials release through the implementation of a statewide hazardous materials emergency response system.” Ruether stated.

Grant money was obtained from the Department of Emergency Services to conduct this training and equipment used during the training. The training will be at 4:00 PM in the Jamestown Civic Center Parking Lot.
