(NewsDakota.com) After falling to a .500 record in Southeast Region play earlier in the week, the Oakes Post 36 American Legion baseball team picked up two wins at Cummings Field on Thursday evening against Galchutt Post 282.

In game one, Post 36 registered a 5-0 shutout courtesy of Cole and Michael Kelly. Cole pitched the first three innings, picking up a couple strikeouts and surrendering just a couple hits, while Michael took the other four innings and struck out three. Galchutt  stranded eight runners on base, and made some mental errors on the base paths. Jon Tyre was three for three with three hits and two runs scored in the victory.

The second game saw Tyre throw all seven innings en route to a 6-1 win. Jed Bopp had two singles, and Post 36 had hits from Tyre, Ethan Zetocha, Cole Ehrlin, Michael Kelly and Zach Roerich.

Post 36 now stands at 6-4 in the Southeast Region, while Post 282 falls to 4-6. Oakes is scheduled to play Lidgerwood Post 84 Friday evening at 6 p.m., weather permitting. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 5:45.
