CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Babe Ruth team increased their winning streak to six games with a dominating 32-1 five inning victory over Edgeley at Charlie Brown Field on Tuesday night.

Valley hit the ground running to start the game putting up a 13 runs in the opening frame. They would go on to light up the scoreboard six times in the second before rounding out the game with 13 runs in the final two innings.

The offensive display nearly hid the pitching performance of Rylee Bjork who tossed the the no-hitter. He finished the night walking five batters and striking out four.

At the dish VC ended the day with 31 hits on their 32 runs. Dawson Dietrich was near perfect at the plate going 5 for 6 with six RBIs. Nate Rodriguez was close behind coming up just a double shy of the cycle. The Valley City third baseman would leave the game early but would account for 5 ribbies before his departure.

Valley City Coach Lance Lukes said, “Today was a great example of how hitting can be contagious.” On the defensive side of the ball, Lukes also touched on his pitchers performance saying, “Rylee did what any pitcher should do with the lead he was given, he just threw strikes and let our defense play behind him and help him out.”

Valley City wraps up the holiday week with a road trip to Ellendale tonight (Wednesday). The District Six double header gets underway at 5pm.
