CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Babe Ruth team has lifted their winning streak to ten games with a pair of victories on Monday night against Lisbon at Charlie Brown Field. Valley opened the night with a dominating 17-7 win in the District Six game than followed that up with a come from behind 8-7 win in the non-district contest.

In the opening game VC’s offense exploded for 18 hits. Garret Suhr led the team at the plate finishing the opener four for five. Drew Oberlander, Cole McGough, and Dawson Dietrich all drove in two RBIs in the game.

McGough earned the win for the home team fanning six batters and allowing just two walks in the six inning game.

Coach Lance Lukes said, “Our bats came alive for us today. Our middle five are really swinging some good sticks. McGough didn’t have his best performance on the year (on the mound) today, but he worked through a few tough spots and got out of some trouble and gutted out a win.”

The second game of the day was a much different story for Valley city. In the three inning contest it looked like Lisbon would put an end to the VC winning streak taking six run lead into the final frame. However, Valley City would not back down. In a last ditch effort, Valley would score seven runs in the bottom of the third capturing their 10th straight victory and completing the double header sweep.

Reese Huschka had a strong game at the plate going two for two. Riley Miller earned the second game win on the mound for Valley City.

The sweep advances Valley City to 25-6 on the season with a 14-1 district record. They will have a chance to avenge the lone district loss on Thursday night when Napoleon comes to town for a double header starting at 5pm.
