CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) 19-year-old Chanda May Grant was sentenced to one year in prison with 9 months suspended after she pleaded guilty to a robbery at the Kirin House restaurant earlier this year in Valley City.

Judge Jay Schmitz suspended most of the sentence except for 90 days. Grant will be on supervised probation for two years following her release. If her probation is revoked she could be facing a maximum of 10 years in prison.

Barnes County State’s Attorney Carl Martineck says as part of the plea agreement, she was ordered to pay $145 restitution to Casey’s and Brother’s III gas stations in Valley City for 3 drive offs.  Grant said during her sentence hearing on July 10 that she will be in counseling after she is released.
