CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) Valley City Post 60 dropped a Saturday double header at Charlie Brown Field to Grafton by scores of 8-6 in the league game and 11-4 in the non-league match up.

In the opening game Austin Meyer was in the spot light for Post 60 both on the mound and at the plate. After giving up four runs through four innings of play, Meyer did his best to spark a comeback posting three RBIs in the final two innings of the game.

Trailing by eight going into the sixth frame, Meyer drove in Valley City’s first run with a RBI single. Shortly after that Chase Caprender had a two run double that brought VC to within five.

In a relief appearance on the mound, Jesse Johnson kept Grafton in check allowing just one hit and striking out five batters in the final two frames allowing Valley the chance at the comeback.

It was not to be, however, after Meyer drove in two more runs and Jakob Miller tacked on another for the home team, Grafton closed out the game to claim the two run victory.

In the second game, Grafton took control from the very start en route to an 11-4 win completing the double header sweep.

Valley City is now 3-11 on the year with a 2-5 record in region play. Valley City returns to play on Thursday when the travel to Wahpeton.
