CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) About half the teachers, those who have been with the Valley City school district for 14 years or less will receive their step salary increases in the upcoming school year.

Superintendent Dean Koppelman says the school board approved of allowing the business manager to issue contracts for the 2014-2015 school year.

Koppelman says the school district will save about $100,000 dollars due to the reduction of one teaching position and several retirements from the last school year.

The school district’s teacher salaries and benefits outlay dropped from $5.2 million to $5.1 million according to Koppelman.
