N.Y.(NewsDaktoa.com) The nation’s top youth bowlers are currently in action in Buffalo New York for the 2014 Junior Gold Bowling Championships. Among the group at the national tournament are Valley City’s Lexia Nix and Sanborn’s Matthew Lyter.

After two qualifying rounds of the tournament, Nix currently stands in 81st place in the girls U12 division with an average of 116 through eight games. In the boys U15, Lyter stands in 79th with an avg. of 175 in 10 games of bowling. In the girls division 12 bowlers will move on to the next round. In the Boys divison the top 50 bowlers will move on.  Qualifying continues throughout the day today.

Both Nix and Lyter qualified for the  National Championship by earning top spots in the North Dakota State Pepsi Championships back on May 3rd-4th in Moorhead, Minnesota.

In the state competition, Nix took second place in the U12 Girls division with a overall score of 722. She was just 11 pins off of the championship. Lyter was also a second place finisher knocking down 1,204 pins in the U15 division.
