(NewsDakota.com) The Enderlin Post 221 American Legion baseball team’s offense struck at the right times in their matchup with Oakes Post 36 on Wednesday night. Lead by a two-run home run by Spencer Gillund in the first inning, Post 221 swept the season series with Oakes by winning 4-1 at Hendrickson Field.

Post 221 (12-3 Class B Southeast Region) added another two runs without a hit in the fifth inning, as Oakes loaded the bases. Post 36 (10-5) had their opportunities also in the fifth, but stranded the bases loaded. The lone run for Oakes came in the second inning.

Gillund was also the winning pitcher; going five innings, allowing four hits and striking out eight. The loss went to Cole Kelly; who lasted four and two-thirds innings with four hits allowed and just one strikeout. Daniel Lindgren earned a save.

Enderlin’s regular season ends Thursday when they host Lidgerwood Post 84. Oakes welcomes Hankinson-Fairmount on Friday at 6 p.m. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts at 5:45.
