N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The land purchase has been proposed for the new addition of the Alfred Dickey Library in Jamestown. Now all that’s left is to collect signatures on a petition to add a 1/4 percent sales tax to fund the project.

Bill Kennedy, the Development Director for the James River Valley Library System, announced that they’ve been informed of how many signatures that will be required in order to put the Sales Tax Petition on the ballot.

Kennedy stated that the average Stutsman County family will pay $33.75 a year for the new library, which needs roughly $7.5 million to finance the renovations. The sales tax will continue until the debt is fully retired.

Kennedy also mentioned that Alfred Dickey will remain the same, but will be receiving updates to meet today’s electronic requirements. The funds will be going towards the renovations and a new addition to be added to the North of Alfred Dickey.

If interested in signing the petition or for any questions, contact Bill Kennedy at 701-252-2217 or email billkennedy0@gmail.com.
