FORKS, (NewsDakota.com) Theresa Will, Executive Director of City-County Health District in Valley City, recently earned statewide distinction when the North Dakota Public Health Association honored her with its Outstanding Service Award.
With 25 years of experience in public health, Will “works tirelessly for the good of the people,” according to Dr. Mark Strand, associate professor in NDSU’s Master of Public Health program.
Will is “one of the best public health providers in the state and is recognized for her leadership by her peers,” said Brad Gibbens, deputy director of the Center for Rural Health at the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He added: “She truly exemplifies not only the spirit and mission of public health in general, but also the special qualities to be a rural leader.”
Will’s nomination for the prestigious award was advanced by her colleagues at CCHD, who paid tribute to her successful work in “removing the root causes of poor health and harnessing the power of policy change to foster lasting improvements in the overall health of all North Dakotans.”
Sharon Buhr, CCHD Board Chair, said, “The Board is very proud of Theresa and the tremendous accomplishments made by our health unit under her strong leadership.”
The award was presented during the Dakota Conference on Rural and Public Health held last month in Grand Forks with Will’s family and Valley City colleagues attending.
