CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Preliminary work is underway for the first phase of the Interstate 94 corridor project east of Valley City.

Valley City Barnes County Economic Development Director Jennifer Fiest says construction of the new National Guard Center begins in earnest this coming spring.

She says 2 new structures will be built in phase one totaling about $12 million dollars already appropriated by congress. Fiest says addition buildings will be constructed as federal monies are appropriated accordingly with the project now through 2021.

Work on building a new frontage road and underground infrastructure has already starting on east main near exit 294 in Valley City.
