(NewsDakota.com)  The day started with six teams and would end with just three remaining in Class B Central Region Legion Baseball Tourney at Carrington City Park.  Here’s the results:

Nelson County 1  May/Port 0,  9 innings

Both Jacob Klath for May/Port and Riley Nelson for Nelson County would pitch gems, allowing only five hits each and not give up a run in the contest.  Going into the bottom of the ninth inning, Nelson would start the inning off hitting a routine fly ball to center, but the ball would go off of the center fielder’s glove Levi Elliot and Nelson would advance to second base on the throw into second base.  After a fly ball out by Jayden Grover, Dakota Hoyt would hit a game winning single and score Nelson from second base.  Nelson was the winning pitcher going all nine innings, 12 strikeouts, allowed no runs on five hits.  Klath was the losing pitcher with nine strikeouts, no walks and five hits.

Gardner 9  Harwood 6

The Harwood Hogs would score four runs in the top of the seventh inning but if wouldn’t be enough as the Express advanced to the 5pm game.  Taylor Kyllo was 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run, one RBI and a walk.  Brennan Thompson was the winning pitcher going five innings with nine strikeouts, two runs on four hits.  Tyler Veen was the losing pitcher.  Harwood ends their season at 13-15.

Carrington 10  Hatton 0, 5 innings

Carrington Post 25 improves to 19-11 on the year and will advance to the State Legion Tourney in Langdon starting July 30th-August 3rd.  Logan Clifton threw a two-hitter and picked up the victory, Jacob Pladson was the losing pitcher.  Patrick Freeman knocked in Brady Smith from third for the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning.  Freeman was 1-3 with a walk, Smith had two hits including a single and a double.  Brady Bickett was 1-1 with two sacrifices and three RBI.  Carrington will advance to the State Tourney for the first time since 2001 when they won the Championship against Beulah.  Hatton ends their season at 18-13.

Nelson County 10  Gardner 6

In another elimination game for Nelson County, they would score three runs in the third and three runs the fourth and take a 7-4 lead going into the fifth inning.  That proved to be all they needed as Nelson County drops the number one seeded Gardner.  Gardner Express Post 132 ends their season at 16-5.  The Owls are 20-11.
